Local Golf Event Raises Almost $8,000 for Habitat [June 28, 2010]
FIRST PLACE:
DOT Foods
(Corey Presgrove, Jimmy Langford, Billy Key, Jim Powers)
SECOND PLACE:
Bob Nunnelee Construction
(Jimmy Wright, Bob Nunnelee, Frank Good, Ryan McIlhenney)

Thanks to a lucky break from the intense heat and a healthy dose of competition, a good time was had by all at the 4th Annual Habitat for Humanity Golf Scramble. From a field of nineteen teams, DOT Foods Team #1 and Bob Nunnelee Construction emerged as the first and second place winners.

The day would not have been as enjoyable without a hole-in-one contest sponsored by Good Construction, and some "Beat the Heat" coolers filled with chilled bandanas jointly sponsored by Swink Heating and Air Conditioning and Todd's Lake Country Heat and Air.

Another special thanks goes out to our premier sponsors, County Building Center, DOT Foods and First National Bank.

Our many hole sponsors included Aaron Morris Surveying, American Legion Post 65, American National Bank, Atlas Roofing, CableOne, Citizens Bank, Conestoga-Rovers & Associates, Daube Company, Day Concrete, First Presbyterian Church, Fox Engineering, Inc., Gregory L. Johnson, Attorney, Joyce Davenport, Kornhaas Construction, Noble Energy, OG&E, Oklahoma Natural Gas, Pettit Machinery, The Brass Ring, The Floor Trader, TriPower Resources, and Wilkinson Nursery & Landscape.

We also had many, many donations from the following companies: Brad Fenton of Ardmore, Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club, Cody Miller, Dave's Dip Stick, El Chico, Falconhead Pro Shop, Fenton Honda, Fireside Dining, Goin' Postal, IHOP, McKown Family Clinic, Noble Energy, R & R Trophies, Santa Fe Cattle Company, Second Hand Sports, Soothing Springs, State Farm Insurance - Paula Bush, The Blue Pig BBQ, Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill, Two Frogs Grill, Valero Ardmore Refinery, Wal-Mart Supercenter, and WinStar Golf Course.

There are so many people to thank, but this event could not have happened without the planning of a great golf committee including Rick Baggett, Joyce Davenport, Melanie Davis, Rebecca Gibbs, Grant Jackson, Laura McNeill, Jack Scott, Paula Scott, Cole Tidwell, Kent Tucker and Jimmy Wright. The committee would like to thank you all for helping to make this event such a pleasure to put on each year, and for helping us raise these funds for our next worthy family.

Are you looking for a bargain?
Habitat for Humanity's ReStore is open Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the corner of Washington and Broadway. The ReStore is like a garage sale on steroids! We have everything you can imagine for sale (except clothing) and Cole is always ready to strike a bargain.

Here's the best part—if you have a garage full of junk that you are wanting to get rid of, all you have to do is call Cole at 580-465-0339 or the office at 580-223-1540 and we will come pick it up!

Support Habitat and save the planet
Help support Habitat for Humanity while also making a difference in the environment! Habitat for Humanity participates in the Cans for Habitat program, which raises funds for home-building efforts through the recycling of aluminum cans.

Organizations can arrange for free collection containers, liners and pick-up service by calling 580-223-1540. Individuals can drop their cans by OK Iron and Metal and tell them the proceeds go to support Habitat.
